Pros
Well, there are worse places to work I guess. I really like my coworkers (fellow nurses). We work well as a team. The upper echelon of management has brought in too many changes that do little to improve the system and are often misguided, make the care given to patients and our work environment worse. They've been away from the bedside for too many years and haven't a clue how to create or inspire excellence in their staff.
Cons
Upper management is poor. Wacky changes that are archaic or cumbersome. The institution pretends to be ahead of the curve re: technology (they spend tons on it), yet expect us to double/triple chart stuff--they create an ocd sort of atmosphere and don't posit trust in their rns. We can be disciplined or fired without any great documentation or proof of wrong doing. Staffing is at times rough. We don't get our lunches or breaks, while management sits down at the cafeteria for nice long ones.
