Pros
Benefits, 401k matching, health insurance, sick leave.
Cons
Top down driven company with authoritarian policies. Administration in Indianapolis determines what is going to be done with little thought about consequences, let alone unforeseen consequences. They dictate what everyone is going to do without consulting those working the job. Enrollment is declining., and the elephant in the room is 8 week courses. The President’s agenda was to change from 16 to 8 week classes based upon one community college (Odessa) and their self-report of their improved retention. Currently, everyone must set goals via the 4DX platform to work on retention and meet with their supervisor every week regarding this. Supervisors are monitoring the data at the classroom level. Meetings upon meetings have become the new norm (again). Sadly, COVID-19 was a breath of fresh air and I wish to go back to that time. At that point they had to trust us to do our jobs and there weren’t so many meetings. Ivy Tech has reverted back to old and bad habits of overwhelming people with policies and meetings at the expense of allowing them the time and freedom to do their job and be great at it. The company is top heavy with too many people trying to justify their jobs, and all these agendas get passed on to the underlings. Just get out of people’s way and let them do their jobs. They shackle the employees hands/feet and wonder why there are problems. They need to clean house and SO is a good place to start.
