JetBrains never cared much about DEI. The majority of new hires are straight white Russian men from Yandex, all friends and buddies of the straight white Russian men working at JB and leading JB. Women don't make it into leadership roles. They're actively removed from it and they leave. ERGs are tolerated at best. The leadership (board, CEO, CHRO) publicly announced that it does not support the LGBTQ+ community and that all externally facing Pride efforts must be stopped. Posts have to be deleted, activities may not take place, merch can only be worn in-house. Internal Pride activities may go ahead as long as they are kept hidden and secret from the outside world, so that JB is not associated with the LGBTQ+ community. You can somewhat be yourself as long as you keep it in the closet and at all cost don't associate JB to DEI topics. It's an unsafe place for anyone who's from a marginalised community. This post is to protect other people from this heartache. Joining JB will negatively impact your mental health in so many ways. Many employees only stay as their visa and work permit still depends on the company and they don't want to be deported to Russia. The saddest thing though is that most employees support these developments in the company. It's the leadership but not only the leadership. It's everywhere.
