Pros
Sales are doing well. Growing markets and hiring in support and a few other areas. Strong leaders in some foreign markets and a few select departments. (will leave if not given more autonomy).
Cons
Too many to list, let me start with the most frustrating: 1. Nepotism and Favoritism: you will not advance here until you have worked with the owners for >10 years or your related. They have friends and family members in Sr positions so you wont advance unless you out last them. Almost without exception, these people are incompetent in their role and lack real work experience. The owners admit this but wont make any changes because of the relationships. The one exception to this is the owners son, he shows real promise and is open to change and improvement. These other relationships make it a very political environment. One owner even talks bad about the other owners and employees and creates big loyalty issues. 2. Micro-Management: See #1 above, if you don't have the relationship you are not trusted to do your job. Even in Sr positions you have no spending or decision making authority. The owners make all decisions, even to the smallest details. 3. Poor pay and benefits: They are not at market rates and the benefits are horrible. Most of the hourly employees pay half their check for medical insurance. Your not supposed to discuss pay but everyone knows the family/friends make far more than everyone else. The sales revenue more than doubled last years numbers and I got a tiny raise, most people weren't as lucky. 4. Politics: If you want to be successful here, check your brain at the door and just do as your told. Asking questions or trying to build and improve things will get you fired, or worse, isolated and marginalized. The culture is about doing your job and having the owners do all the thinking and decision making. Almost no one else is empowered to make decisions. There is a lots of blaming others and CYA in this company. The relatives can't be touched and their the most incompetent, you'll likely get fired if you point out their lack of skills. 5. Environment: Beside the above. The office is horrible, everyone is packed in and their is no privacy or even room to breathe. Most rooms have no natural light and it is suffocating. This is the Florida office, I heard the Utah is a much better physical environment though most of the above still applies.
