Pros

The pros used to be excellent: - Free lunches cooked by an excellent in-house chef - Team collaboration and building activities - Health and well-being programs

Cons

All of the pros listed above are overshadowed by the company's poor people management: - Unclear business strategy and lack of transparency from middle/upper management - Poor communication regarding company decisions and direction, sometimes embellishing the truth to push changes through faster - Micromanagement of employees who are consistently hitting targets above and beyond their position description - Unclear reasoning for lack of pay increases and purposeful understaffing - Contacting staff members to work while experiencing hardships (family deaths, mental health crisis, etc.), completely negating the company's health and wellness initiatives - Recognition, fair compensation, and appropriate rewards for diligent efforts (for 5+ years) are non-existent. Furthermore, the assignment of additional work without transparent communication or fair remuneration is rife within this company. My management team did not even make the effort to address my resignation until my final day of work with Jumbo Interactive. Pathetic.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts and concerns. We strive to constantly improve culture and value feedback provided to us. Jumbo utilises a global compensation benchmarking tool, Aon Hewitt to ensure our salary banding is competitive and aligned to what the industry is paying. Banding information is distributed to Heads of Department each year, and the People & Culture team work with functional leaders to set the most fair and accurate salaries for our people. As a listed business, we also share with our team members publicly-available information regarding our opportunities/limitations regarding increases for the financial year - which is tied heavily to our performance as a company. To learn that any employee is feeling undervalued is not taken lightly. We would also like to understand your comment further on contacting employees on leave - this is not a common practice at Jumbo and would like to address this. Our people team can be contacted at people@jumbointeractive.com. Your feedback has been passed along to relevant leaders. We also share that we empower our people leaders to take ownership of their team's successes, challenges, onboarding, and offboarding. Senior managers are not typically involved in farewelling leavers, but it is noted that this would be appreciated for future departures. We endeavour to ensure our people feel valued, respected and empowered during their time with us, whether that be through our many Reward and Recognition initiatives within the business or acknowledgments of success within the team. We are always working on redefining communication processes throughout the business and appreciate your candour and time. All the best for your new role!

Pros

Great people, a genuinely supportive culture, and a lot of trust and flexibility in how you work, very outcome focused. There’s a strong focus on wellbeing, work-life balance, and creating a positive employee experience, which makes Jumbo a rewarding place to work oh and the free lunches are great. The work is meaningful, teams are collaborative, and there’s a real sense that people care about doing things well and pushing each other to deliver.

Cons

As with any evolving business, priorities can change quickly and that can sometimes create ambiguity, but it also comes with opportunities to shape improvements.

Thank you for this, and congratulations on five-plus years with us. It means a lot to hear that the culture, flexibility, and quality of people still land the way they're intended to. You're right that the pace of change can create ambiguity, and your advice around communication, development, and clearer processes as we grow is well noted. It's something we're actively working on. Glad you're here, and thanks for taking the time to share this.

Pros

Jumbo is a forward-thinking, progressive company that constantly strives to innovate. As you would expect, not every initiative succeeds however, they are always exploring new ways to improve. The company fosters trust by empowering employees to work autonomously, take ownership, and achieve their goals. For those who are willing to embrace change and work hard, Jumbo offers a fulfilling career with a strong focus on personal and professional growth, supported by generous learning and development budgets. The unique culture includes perks like full-time chefs preparing gourmet lunches daily, monthly wellness reimbursements and plenty more. It is truly a standout workplace.

Cons

Jumbo thrives on change and results, so if you're not comfortable with autonomy or struggle to adapt, this might not be the best fit for you. A strong work ethic and the ability to embrace change are essential to succeed here.

Thank you for sharing your feedback – we appreciate you taking the time to give us your honest perspective. We’re glad you value our focus on innovation and the trust we place in our people to work independently. Giving teams the freedom to own their roles and grow their skills is important to us, and we’re proud to support this through practical benefits like learning budgets, wellness allowances, and in-house chef meals. It’s great to know these efforts help make Jumbo a positive place to work. You’re right that our pace and focus on results may not suit everyone. We aim to balance change with support through open communication, mentoring, and training. Thank you also for recognising our leadership team. We believe good managers are vital to maintaining our culture, and we’ll keep working to equip them with what they need to guide their teams well. We’re lucky to have you here and will keep striving to make Jumbo a workplace where everyone can do their best work.
