Pros
Great place to start to get some experience. I worked here while going to college and they were quite flexible with the schedule. Discount was ok at 10 percent off most stuff. The other sales associates were really fun to work with as well. Very easy to get hired. Even with no experience.
Cons
Training was awful. Mine consisted of being handed keys and a walkie talkie then told to go do stuff. You had a quota of credit card apps, protection plan attachment, and Kmart rewards members. If you didn't get enough of those, you got your hours cut. I remember if you didn't 75% of the people who didn't have a rewards card, you'd get taken to the office for a butt chewing. You had to keep track of this. It was so bad, my coworkers were making fake memberships so they would stay out of trouble. It was difficult seeing the programs they offered weren't at all good and they don't teach you the benefits so you even know what you're trying to offer. No room to grow with the company and you wouldn't want to. You feel disposable. If management doesn't like you for whatever reason, they will terminate you because they know they can get some high school kid to replace you easily. The customers were the worst. Don't even talk to me about having to straighten up the Halloween costumes or shoes.
