Pros
Kohler Co. has beautiful quality products and the company is very innovative. They give back to the communities that they operate in. It is a good place for interns and people just getting out of college to get a solid bullet on the resume'.
Cons
Management has changed dramatically over the last 5 - 10 years and employees are not valued. People are promoted to manager if they score high on an intelligence test regardless of whether they have management skills, people skills etc. I am aware of several instances where "questionable" write-ups have been done against "star" performers and when those individuals have asked for specifics, HR has refused to provide any details. I have known of one manager who promoted an associate only to put them on a performance plan after the associate shared concerns about morale in the department, within weeks they were no longer qualified to do the job they had been doing for 4 years. I worked at Kohler for 18 successful years before being recruited to another company with more career potential. I had been given exemplary reviews, good merit increases, was a "star" performer and was put through leadership training. When I gave my notice I was walked out the door. If you stay at Kohler, don't ever believe that they care about you as a person, or about your career. Recently it appears as though associates with a long history of employment there are being pushed out, maybe they make too much money and it would be cheaper to replace them with college graduates, I can't say, but it doesn't feel right.
