Pros

I arrived at Koosmik in July 2019 as part of an internship. From Day 1, the CEO welcomed me with open arms. I became part of the team, and was given important responsibilities even if I had solely a junior status. I was brought along to multiple high-caliber events (Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Vivatech 2019 & more recently CES 2020). Pro's: - Laudable vision: Fighting for financial inclusion in West Africa - New ideas are encouraged and appreciated - A culture of "doing" is promoted - A positive vibe can be felt in the office (e.g. team lunch is often the norm) - All employees are empowered, even when at the low end of the organizational structure - CEO walks the talk. Expects others to do the same. - Top management keeps its word: I was promised to go to CES 2020 and I did indeed attend the show in Las Vegas. - There are talented people in the team coming from diverse backgrounds. A lot can be learned from each other.

Cons

- Communication between different departments could be improved - A clearer pecking order for projects should be defined, as they can sometimes get lost in the weeds

Pros

I worked at Koosmik full-time for more than 3 years Pros - The project itself is amazing and has a virtuous mission - The team members were innovating auto-entrepreneurs with genuine passion - Working in the leap-frogging African markets is an exceptional opportunity - Reasonably flexible working environment and own Mac + phone

Cons

- Current CEO is overly obsessed with glory, procedures and appearance at the expense of the product value and market needs and causing a disconnect with other members of the team - A lot of manipulation happens with current leadership and adversity between team members is preferred to harmony - Lots of promises are made, falsehoods are spread. The one value prop of a startup is the distribution of equity, unfortunately, even when the team pleaded this promise was never delivered - Ultimately the team is expendable since they were all let go without compensation or valid explanation - Compensation was minimal and career growth was limited
