Pros

The free hair removal is nice.

Cons

Working at LaserAway was an experience I wouldn’t wish on anyone. Behind the carefully curated image and the façade of inclusivity and collaboration, this company has some deep-rooted issues that permeate every level of the organization. Here’s what future candidates should be aware of: 1. Health and Safety? Nonexistent. Health and safety protocols are optional here, at best. Reporting any concerns about safety often went nowhere, as these were simply disregarded by management. It’s as if addressing hazards was an inconvenience rather than a priority. If you’re looking for a safe, secure work environment, this isn’t it. 2. Time Off? Prepare to be Gaslit. Despite what they might claim, the company culture does not encourage taking time off. Any attempt to use sick days or even well-deserved PTO is met with passive-aggressive remarks and subtle (or not-so-subtle) gaslighting. You’ll be made to feel guilty for taking the time off you’ve rightfully earned and may face whispers or cold shoulders from management upon your return. 3. HR: Not Here to Help You If you think HR is there to protect employees, think again. Reporting harassment, bullying, racial slurs, or any kind of discriminatory behavior often led to dismissive responses like, “Maybe you should look inward.” Rather than addressing the toxic behavior, the onus was somehow placed on employees to “adjust.” For anyone who values workplace respect and fair treatment, this lack of accountability should be a red flag. 4. Favoritism Runs the Show If you’re not one of the chosen few, don’t expect any kind of recognition, no matter how hard you work. Favoritism is rampant, and management consistently overlooks anyone outside their inner circle. Recognition and career advancement are tied more to who you know rather than what you bring to the table. 5. Discriminatory Culture The company makes it painfully clear that inclusivity is not a priority. Homophobia, racism, and other forms of discrimination are deeply ingrained in the culture. This isn’t an environment where everyone is welcomed, respected, or valued. Instead, these behaviors are overlooked or shrugged off, creating an alienating and hostile atmosphere for anyone who doesn’t fit the “preferred” mold. 6. Upper Management: Lacking Accountability The upper management team has mastered the art of deflection and avoidance. Instead of addressing systemic issues, they sidestep accountability, passing the blame or ignoring concerns altogether. There is a clear lack of transparency, leaving employees feeling both undervalued and unheard. 7. Compensation and Commission Schemes: Set Up for Failure The hourly pay is low, and while there are commission incentives, the targets are such that many employees feel compelled to take shortcuts just to meet goals. This creates a cutthroat environment where dishonesty is encouraged, as people often have to claim sales that aren’t theirs to make ends meet. Far from fostering teamwork, this only promotes a dog-eat-dog mentality. 8. Toxic Culture & Poor Morale This is not a team-oriented environment. The overall morale is dismal, as employees quickly realize that they’re viewed as disposable rather than valued contributors. There’s little collaboration, support, or camaraderie, making it feel like every day is a battle rather than a productive work experience.

Pros

Competitive pay and strong training for new aesthetic providers. You’ll gain experience quickly because of the high patient volume.

Cons

LaserAway is a sales company disguised as a medical practice. Revenue consistently comes before patient care and provider well-being. Providers are routinely triple booked, making it nearly impossible to give patients the time and attention they deserve. Rushing through consultations and treatments creates unnecessary stress, increases burnout, and can compromise patient safety. Sales consultants have more influence than licensed medical professionals. Treatments are frequently sold before a provider even evaluates the patient, and nurses are often expected to justify or perform services they may not believe are appropriate. Medical opinions are routinely overshadowed by sales goals. The culture prioritizes quotas, memberships, and packages over ethical, patient-centered care. The PTO policy is extremely poor. Full-time employees receive only about 1.5 weeks of PTO per year, yet you’re expected to keep your schedule open seven days a week. You cannot submit unavailability or reliably schedule appointments in advance without using your already limited PTO. Maintaining any work-life balance is unnecessarily difficult.
