Pros
I started as Lab Manager in 1990. Loved the company in the early years and believed in corporate policies and the "original" core values. Dave Brown was the CEO back then, and he understood what it takes to value your employees. Most upper management positions were filled with optical people that understood the reality of life in a store. Pay was decent and I loved the "each store a seperate business" approach to store management. Those days are looong gone.
Cons
Politics have taken over and no longer is meeting (or exceeding) your goals a good way to keep your job. My store received an exceeds standards rating for 2009 and yet I was deemed not "brand right" under the new cultural belief system. I was woking on a great career, won many awards, had major influence on many initiatives, attended Field management basic training and fully intended to work myself into retirement. The good people, the ones that really cared about the company and it's associates are leaving in droves. I don't recommend Lenscrafters to anyone looking for a career position. They just don't exist unless you can tolerate playing games.
