Pros
Great people: The median Limejump employee is sharp, positive and engaged. Positive mission: Trying to make green energy profitable and build a more sustainable future. Modern tech stack: At least by energy-industry standards, Limejump is very modern. Everything is cloud-hosted. Languages include Python, Golang and Scala. Ops is focused on Kubernetes. Kafka and RabbitMQ used as event brokers.
Cons
Tension between values and profits: Limejump aspires to be 100% renewable, but also makes money from natural gas and diesel power. Corporate nonsense: Since acquisition by Shell, there's been a slow but steady creep of big corporate bureaucracy and box-ticking. It's not terrible, but expect to complete a dozen mandatory online click-through training seminars and policies. Technical debt: When Limejump was a small startup, many systems were implemented with suboptimal designs and time-saving hacks. Today, we're still digging out of that hole.
