Lack of support or training ,managers play favourites and actively ignore staff from day one, even not training them appropriately and leaving it to much much newer staff who arent trained themselves to do training, and refuse to even communicate with their team members and support and train them which causes issues, how can you expect to have staff work in a role if you do not train or support them particularly if they come from a different background or industry. Unsupportive colleagues - I frequently got lied to by other staff who would say they would complete tasks, then not complete the tasks, and then not inform you just to stab you in the back and throw you under the bus and get you into serious trouble due to personal vendettas and dislike's. Its incredibly immature and inappropriate that in an office environment that staff regularly lie to others and get them into trouble for things they should have done themselves. Inappropriate colleagues - colleagues who will down right make offensive, sexist and inappropriate comments about colleagues, clients and even members of the public who previously worked at the company; even stabbing them in the back in work related tasks and pining the blame on teams who were just doing their job. I found the environment to be extremely toxic, definately felt like a very laddy culture and if you didnt "fit in" you would be ostracized and essentially bullied out of the workplace. This is something I noticed on a previous review from a few years back which says the culture has remained consistently toxic since. In addition to the above, as my manager essentially refused to interact with or train me, this caused issues with work and stress leading me to barely sleeping more than half an hour a night sometimes, because my manager was so unwilling to be supportive I did not feel I could reach out and share my concerns and issues with them and essentially felt like a victim of discrimination purely due to my managers inappropriate attitude towards me. IT Issues - the laptop I was provided with did not work properlly which led to issues with work and being able to join in on meetings/interact with candidates and colleagues consistently. This took a significant amount of time to complete. The office environment in Edinburgh is incredibly cliquey, staff act incredibly inappropriate and are essentially willing to gas light or stab you in the back if they dont like you, because the way the management operates there its improbable that anyone would feel comfortable reaching out regarding these issues as the treatment they would recieve would get much much worse. Flexible working - if you do end up going into the office you may find that the rest of your team does not go in, this means if you're new you can feel extremely isolated and lacking support, in addition to a lack of communication in the team itself. Especially if you just join and your manager only comes in once to train you then just leaves someone else who is inexperienced to train you.
