Pros

Lubrizol promotes both good business practices and a work life balance. There are infinite career opportunities that span not only the industries that Lubrizol serves but also globally in the many countries they are present in. Management is supportive of growth not only with on the job training but also formal classes and programs offered both internally and externally. There are many ways in which the company is utilizing new technology to promote effeciency as well as effectiveness. Lubrizol is a community that promotes camaraderie during work hours and on personal time with the many Business Resource Groups they have formed. One of my fondest memories is participating in the Cystic fibrosis challenge in which Lubrizol always sponsored a team for charity. I love working for this company, the pros are endless. From our CEO to contributers, employees care about our work and building a sense of pride in our products and services.

Cons

There are honestly not a lot of cons working for Lubrizol. Probably the number one issue is the headquarters are located in North East Ohio and the winters are brutal! Lubrizol is a large company so many times decisions and changes might take a little longer to come to fruition.

Pros

Even with current political tensions, LZ is still allowing cultural programs which support diversity and inclusion throughout the organization. Working in a lab setting and having supportive management that understand work life balance is beneficial as long as the work is getting done. Supportive of using company time to volunteer in community investment. Most employees are supportive and willing to help each out.

Cons

No opportunity for advancement. Low yearly pay increases, with too much focus on pushing individuals to do more as “personal development”. Health benefit package is limited and costly, vacation promised isn’t always given, too many middle and upper management, with continued turnover before you even know who they are and what they do. Most scientist and engineers have no other working experience besides education and lack experience, which prevents opportunities for innovation. Co-ops have better opportunities than long term full time employees.
