Pros

The work was challenging and exciting.

Cons

I could use this space to tell you many disheartening, unprofessional, and negative stories of what I saw and experienced during my tenure here. Instead, I'm using this space to provide a list of questions that I would recommend you ask in the interview process. I wish I would have had the foresight to ask these questions. What are MBRE's mission, vision and values? Is the company healthy? What is the turn over rate like for this role and across the company? Describe the new-hire on-boarding process and expectations. Does MBRE value employee engagement and if yes, what steps are implemented to achieve successful employee engagement? Are employees ever surveyed periodically for feedback? Are employees ever allowed to provide feedback on their work environment? What is the career path for this role? How is the annual review process conducted? Is there ever an opportunity to provide feedback on those who oversee me? How are bonus' or pay increases managed year-over-year? And do those percentages ever change without warning?

Pros

Throughout the COVID pandemic, and other various challenges we have faced in the last year, MBRE's leadership has communicated where we stand as a company and how we will persevere. My team specifically has held weekly team meetings and is in constant communication. Corporate leaders have communicated with emails throughout the pandemic and most recently the company brought back a program that invites younger employees to spend time together/meet MBRE’s senior leaders and hear about their career paths. The sessions include Q&A's to make the meetings more interactive and ensure the younger employees are getting the most from each meeting. While there were some changes to benefits, most of our benefits remained unchanged and the company was largely able to operate without restructuring or laying employees off the last year. The commercial real estate industry was hit very from the pandemic and most CRE companies cannot say the same.

Cons

There are disadvantageous working for a boutique firm. We lack some of the tools and technologies that larger firms have and don't have "buying power". That said, I'm more than a number to MBRE and appreciate that especially during difficult times.
