Pros

- You learn a lot about specimen processing LIS and benchwork procedures like plating if you work in micro. -Great exposure to clinical field in general if you wanna be an MLS -Nice coworkers but they can be a bit cliquey -decent shift differentials and opportunities to work nonstandard schedules like 7 on 7off

Cons

-Mediocre pay in general. Base pay for specimen processing lab assistant is $15 hour. Get a little more if you work night shift -inconsistent direction from management -General vibe is to work as fast as possible and get as much stuff done as possible even if quality suffers. Most ppl don’t seem to care in general -working weekends and holidays sometimes

Pros

I've worked here for 5 years and I really held high hopes for our future. Fortunately Quest Diagnostics acquired Med Fusion and it's likely that (as they have in the past) they will drop kick the current weak and incompetent mid management staff and either provide replacements. So while the already nervous staff panics and continues to produce the suboptimal results that got them devoured in this acquisition, hopefully they will begin to accept they only have themselves to blame for their current situation.

Cons

Very reactive mid management culture that is always chasing problems instead of avoiding them. So many decisions are made out of emotion rather than data, facts, and logic. More than any company I've ever seen, there are so many people who think they are in charge of everything but aren't actually. Lots of poor communication and easily hurt feelings turn into meetings and generic talk. So many of the poor performers are acting out of a panic to try and make themselves look so much more valuable than they are it made it too much to handle. So, I left and went to work for Quest now instead of waiting.
