Pros

Excellent opportunities to pursue foremost technical research without any considerations of commercial feasibility, revenue or profits

Cons

Customer is federal government so you need to get comfortable with the cycles and causes of funding. If the funding for your project goes away you need to find other projects to work on. Can be OK if it's a big program.

Thank you for taking the time to comment. You have done a nice job of pointing out one of the big differences between Lincoln Laboratory and industry as a whole. It is sometimes hard to get the complete picture of the depth and breadth of our work program based on available commercial technology.. We appreciate your insight.

Pros

It can vary a lot from group to group, but in general, wonderful place with wonderful people and lots of interesting work going on. Excellent benefits and lots of flexibility to explore different projects.

Cons

Little opportunity for advancement in terms of rank and compensation once you reach technical staff. Additionally (again varies from group to group) expectations of what a staff member does can be unclear and there can be a light sink-or-swim nature to the work, again depending on the group you're in.

Pros

great people to work with, but not for.

Cons

Leadership needs to look inward and see what is wrong. If you want to get hired here you must need to know someone hire up.
