Pros
This is a great place to learn and expand your technical horizons. There are plenty of opportunities to attend technical talks, conferences on-site, and meetings with sponsors. Management style in my division is generally hands-off, which is fantastic for self-motivated people.
Cons
A small minority of employees, including some contractors, do not care about the work and simply punch the clock. Even worse, I have personally observed one contractor actively wasting most of his time on the internet with no consequences--so far. We do this person no favor by ignoring his dysfunctional behavior, but the rest of us have no incentive to report it to management. This is definitely an opportunity for improvement!
