Pros
Honestly, if you're a young college student looking for something "impressive" to put on your resume, the internship is for you. The work the interns are given is very basic. I guess you'll learn the ropes and meet some quirky people. The work environment is very relaxed and you'll get to go to some events. I had a strong background, so the work was mindnumbingly dull for me. Also, my role wasn't what I was told it was going to be.
Cons
First, a lot of the people feel quirky for the sake of being quirky. Think of New Girl and imagine an office full of people like that. It gets old after about a week. For me, it was all flash and no substance. I could imagine a TMZ style show being made by the company. It just flat out was not for me culturally, in all honesty. The second thing, the CEO is definitely a diva. Walked by him a bunch of times, thought he was a cool guy based on MKG's videos and what I was told by employees, but the guy wouldn't acknowledge my existence (or any intern's existence). There was an office event once and he was standing right next to the table of interns and he didn't glance at us once. Mind you, there's about 50 employees, including about 8 interns. To compare, I was previously with a global communications corporation, and the 90-year-old CEO interacted with all of us at events, learned our names and backgrounds, and even made time for interns to meet him personally and pick his brain. (There were also about 22 interns). Again, the work I was told I was going to be doing wasn't what the reality was. At all. I was really disappointed by this. Between this, an office full of Zoe Deschanels, and the beyond arrogant CEO, it was a nightmare for me. Case in point, 3 of us once carried stuff to the CEO's apartment and changed the batteries in his smoke alarm. So, I had been inside his apartment and fixed his appliances but never the met the guy despite being around him often. Like, what?
