Pros
- Amazing career progression. I started working at Malmaison nearly 6 years ago as a part-time waitress during university. With their training and guidance, I am now an Operations Manager. I have seen many of my colleagues start out in the company at entry-level positions and progress to management level. - As staff, we are looked after well, the management is understanding when personal problems arise and do everything they can to help team members who are struggling. We have access to many help-lines, from mental health, to money management, health, and legal guidance. - There are also many opportunities to make extra money, this is another way that the company looks after us. If there are limited hours available in your department, in many cases, you are given cross-training in a department that is busier so that you can get extra hours. - There are lots of fun competitions across the brand that have amazing prizes, like educational trips to Spain, other properties, and even concerts.
Cons
I think that all of the "cons" of working at Malmaison, are simply cons of the industry that you will find working at any hotel chain. Long hours, unpredictable schedules, and emotionally demanding work. If you are a hospitality professional, this kind of comes with the territory.
