Pros

I had the opportunity to work with some truly great people, building friendships that will last a lifetime.

Cons

Product If existing customers aren’t referring new ones, it’s a clear warning sign. The company has had four CPOs in four years, yet there has been little meaningful progress—expensive hires with minimal impact. The leadership team lacks fintech experience, and many struggle to understand the product. No major feature releases in the last four years, which speaks volumes about the company’s approach to innovation. Partially developed features linger in “early access” for years, never reaching full completion. Meanwhile, competitors—though moving slowly—are at least making steady progress. Career There is no budget for learning and development. If you invest in your own growth, you’ll quickly hit a glass ceiling—your manager. With a shrinking headcount, opportunities for advancement are almost nonexistent. Performance measurement changes annually, with no consistent OKRs or KPIs, making salary increases and promotions more about office politics than merit. Salary adjustments have been at or below inflation for five years, while new hires receive higher starting salaries, creating significant pay compression. Stock options are virtual, and company valuation has dropped by 90% in the last five years. Culture The four-day workweek is gone. Speaking up comes with career risks, leading to a culture of silence. There’s no room for open communication, but office politics thrive behind the scenes. HR has a questionable relationship with transparency and often works against employees rather than supporting them. There is no office and no budget for co-working spaces, leaving employees to navigate remote work without support.

Pros

I personally had a very good work, life balance working for a European company being based in the US. The best part of working at Mambu was I really enjoyed my team and the 4 day work week in the summers. They also offered generous parental leave, which is probably a lot more competitive than what a US company would give their employees.

Cons

There was a lot of executive leaderships changes including a change in CEO. Company was not performing well and massive waves of quarterly layoffs across the organization.
