Pros
Good benefits and great co-workers with a strong team mentality. The Public Media world that we service is uniquely rewarding and inspiring. Market Enginuity provides excellent initial support for stations as it creates a strong infrastructure for streamlined future sales growth. Public media stations are great with content development and community support but not so much with sales. Market Enginuity fills that gap well for a defined period of time. The owners pitch in and work as hard as the employees.
Cons
Not well enough resourced at this point to provide an adequate level of sales support. The sales teams (including market managers) whom are selling multi-platform products (radio, digital, events) are provided NO ADMIN SUPPORT. The centralized "creative services (two people)" and digital strategy support (one person) people are overwhelmed (but cheerfully) trying to assist all the markets. Market Managers take the brunt of this with very long hours and stress as they try to balance providing sales support to their teams, station relationship development and communication along with volumes of Market Enginuity paperwork and reporting requirements. A need for consistency and control across markets leads to a lack of flexibility that does not adequately take into consideration the unique needs of each market and creates a tendency towards micro-management on a variety of levels. Following the playbook is mandatory - no improvising without management approval.
