Pros

Located on the southern side of the cities. Newer office space. Casual dress every day. Close to the highway. 3D imagery work and 3D modeling work. Opportunity to advance from the $12-$14/hr starting mapping technician rate.

Cons

Working at this company was feast or famine. You would be on mandatory 50 hour weeks with tons of pressure to work 10 hour weekends and then sent home for 1-2 weeks when the work runs out. The owner/president spent months working on low end production tasks ($16-$18/hr tasks) rather than getting out and driving new clients and business to the company. One large modeling contract would land and 3D scanning sales would effectively stop. Once the project was completed everyone that was hired and trained would be laid off because there was nothing else in the work pipeline. Rinse and repeat every 6-9 months. Contracts are almost exclusively repeat business from contracts gained under previous president/owner. Current president has trouble creating new clients as he stays on the production side of the company. There is room to grow because turnover is high. Being promoted was a change in title, responsibility, but not compensation. They're were no formal reviews. Prepare to spend years without constructive feedback or opportunity for a raise. You WILL have to walk into the owners office and plead your case if you want your wage to reflect your ability and responsibility. During regular gaps in workload ownership regularly attempted to implement new company strategies. After a month or two each strategy was quietly abandoned. The issues of nepotism and family favoritism listed in a previous review are real and frustrating. Other than the employed family members, employees often spoke about feeling trapped by the niche market they were in.

Pros

This company has a lot of fascinating technology in several different areas. If you come in with basic skills and prove you're trainable they're willing to cross train in multiple areas which keeps things interesting. I started with an entry level job and was able to prove myself, which came with several pay increases. Good benefits with paid vacation and holidays, medical, dental, and 401K matching. Also, the past two years in a row all employees got a 9% bonus check at the end of the year. Decent flexibility with personal & family matters. Relaxed atmosphere. Quite a few newer young people on staff which keeps things fresh and fun.

Cons

Everyone is expected to work the evening shift at some point. Smaller company so there aren't an abundance of management level positions to work up to.
