Lifeless shifts on the lowest pay - Retail Sales Assistant Matalan Retail Employee Review

Very low pay, £4.62 (under 18) Was kept 15 minutes after my shift ended (closing shift) and wasn’t paid overtime Shop floor always freezing cold (many staff members complaining) Always have low stock of items (minus jeans) The uniform jackets haven’t arrived and have been in shipping since January Shifts are boring, and lifeless When reporting an absence, an email isn’t sufficient, you have to phone in, and in many cases no-one picks up the phone, meaning absence goes down as unauthorised !! Key holders and management will stand around talking whilst lower levels are doing all the jobs
