Pros

Coworkers are friendly and nice; vibrant and hip neighbourhood

Cons

Company has been shrinking in size due to employees leaving for better jobs or layoffs. As a result of that, there's little employee morale. There're always fires to be put out, ie. emergencies that negatively affect the bottom line. There's limited mobility or career advancement, unless you've been there for 6+ years and the owners have deemed you as loyal to the company. Salaries are below industry standards.

Pros

As a smaller, stable, tech company, Mate1 has been able to cultivate quite a few strengths: - Great company culture and co-workers - Lots of opportunities to grow and take on new responsibilities - Diverse technology stack and projects to work on - Great location - Generous benefits package (including a large kitchen with free drinks/espresso machine, etc) - Very involved and understanding management. I would say if you're looking for a place to provide a challenging, diverse workload with learning opportunities and a great culture, you'd have a hard time finding a better place than Mate1.

Cons

It's a very specific industry and, as such, it's not a good fit for everyone. Smallish team can limit the amount of projects that can be built and released in a given time period.

Pros

The people, the people, the people--that's where it all starts and this company has that. It was the friendly environment that kept me there so long, even when I was less than thrilled with the work itself. The office is really nice and conveniently located. It was also pet friendly when I was there as well.

Cons

I guess after a while it is easy to become disenchanted with the work. Online dating is a challenging field to stay really competitive in. Clients were unsatisfied more often than not.
