Pros

As others have mentioned, there's good people at this shop.

Cons

The senior designers here are completely tone deaf to the client, and either you are 'banned' from the only project and not protected from client, or you're stuck on it with redicuous hours and expectations. If you're a female you will be the subject of sexually explicit group chats and you will feel the eyes of the male employees all over you as you walk by. If you're a dude, I hope you wear the right clothes and call people 'bruh'. Instead of improving the toxic climate, the solution is more lies?

Pros

The people are what really make Matter, Matter. The designers are incredibly talented, dedicated, and go above and beyond on every project or task. The management team was supportive and flexible with my chronic illness, and when I had to take time off to handle family affairs, they went out of their way to ensure that I didn't have to worry about a thing. The team is very close-knit and highly-collaborative with a work hard, play hard, mentality.

Cons

There is a certain level of discipline and self-start initiative required. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. As someone who doesn't like being micro-managed, I appreciated that I was given adequate space to create, adapt, and even help shape processes that impacted the team. However, designers, specifically at the junior level, need more oversight from seniors to help strengthen their skill set in design, presentation, and communication. Lastly, Project Managers could use more support in bolstering the importance of their role within the organization - sometimes it felt like an afterthought.
