Pros

Full time. Crap benefits and poor compassion

Cons

When I first started with Maximus as a career coach collaboration and serving the clients was held as a important. As the project ramped up each case manager exprienced changes in policy and procedure that made day to day work impossible to do. Interaction with clients became less about helping them and more about triplicate documentation. They promise relief but as time passed the more policy and procedure changed. Management stopped appreciating the hard work that career coaches where doing and more about mirco management. As Maximus struggled meeting contractor expectations the more work load was placed on the career coaches instead of 70 cases a month i left with 389. Management didnt provide solutions or listened as far as problems with in processes or when career coaches exprienced difficultly in managing that many cases. It was basically this what it is and sorry but the requirements are going to change again. I simply couldnt keep up. I went from a top employee to the unemployment line due to the sheer amount of work. maximus does not care abouts employees or really the clients they serve. They only care about the bottom line. You are nothing but a cogg in the wheel

Pros

Had a few really exceptional coworkers

Cons

One reason I was hired was to bring in new ideas and work approaches; however, when I tried implementing anything new, some of the “old school higher-ups” would balk and were never open to anything new or better. My management just looked the other way and didn’t support me. As for training, I wasn’t offered much in the way of onboarding other than being told to read a lengthy “standard operating procedures” document. No real opportunities were offered to shadow anyone so I could learn in real-time. A typical work week was 60+ hours and often stretched to 70+. It was exhausting and demoralizing. The job was not sustainable and I’ve never been more relieved to be done with a place. I cannot recommend Maximus as a place to grow your skills or to give your time. Turnover seems to be relatively high at Maximus and there are far better places to work.
