Pros

There were a lot of really nice people who worked here. Trainers and certain supervisors were helpful and easy to work with. You also get to learn a lot about health insurance application processing, which is good on the resume. The job itself was easy. Nice schedule.

Cons

The worst thing about this job was the working conditions. You're crammed into a giant room with no windows sharing a little cubicle with another person. It was hard to focus on work when you are surrounded by so many people. Some supervisors were extremely immature, they can be seen running around gossiping, walking around with their phones out (which is against policy), and overall acting unprofessional. If you work hard here, people won't like you. Hard workers aren't appreciated here or recognized, maybe supervisors or upper positions were. Many people have been temps for over two years. I also saw bias on many occasions. Certain people would get written up, while others wouldn't. I knew someone who got written for listening to music on her phone, when our whole team did this.

Pros

Had a few really exceptional coworkers

Cons

One reason I was hired was to bring in new ideas and work approaches; however, when I tried implementing anything new, some of the “old school higher-ups” would balk and were never open to anything new or better. My management just looked the other way and didn’t support me. As for training, I wasn’t offered much in the way of onboarding other than being told to read a lengthy “standard operating procedures” document. No real opportunities were offered to shadow anyone so I could learn in real-time. A typical work week was 60+ hours and often stretched to 70+. It was exhausting and demoralizing. The job was not sustainable and I’ve never been more relieved to be done with a place. I cannot recommend Maximus as a place to grow your skills or to give your time. Turnover seems to be relatively high at Maximus and there are far better places to work.
