Pros

Truly meaningful work "Helping government serve the people." Great, committed, colleagues. Good benefits and perks.

Cons

Despite strongly expressed company values, an emphasis on the corporate bottom line exceeds personnel considerations. The corporate culture reinforces overworked employees, HR protection of management at the cost of employee well-being, unidirectional reviews (no institutionalized employee feedback to management), and similar approaches. The lip service to these things is hollow.

Pros

Remote, adequate training and guidance and usually everything /software works - minus regular hiccups.

Cons

Not too many - a few misunderstanding s about training classes and roles but overall, not bad.

Pros

Had a few really exceptional coworkers

Cons

One reason I was hired was to bring in new ideas and work approaches; however, when I tried implementing anything new, some of the “old school higher-ups” would balk and were never open to anything new or better. My management just looked the other way and didn’t support me. As for training, I wasn’t offered much in the way of onboarding other than being told to read a lengthy “standard operating procedures” document. No real opportunities were offered to shadow anyone so I could learn in real-time. A typical work week was 60+ hours and often stretched to 70+. It was exhausting and demoralizing. The job was not sustainable and I’ve never been more relieved to be done with a place. I cannot recommend Maximus as a place to grow your skills or to give your time. Turnover seems to be relatively high at Maximus and there are far better places to work.
