Pros

Weekends off but only if you’re able to meet quota w/o working sat/sun. Management pressures and guilts you into working however many hours it takes to meet monthly goal. No work life balance.

Cons

When Maximus bought out VES they got rid of all monthly bonus pay which was based on individual performance. This cut our annual salary in half for most QAs. No notice was given but our production quotas remain the same. We’re forced to continue doing the same amount of work for less than half the pay! Mentioning concerns about this major salary change does nothing but fall on deaf ears. We have bills to pay and need to know where this company is headed but management doesn’t care. I used to rave about VES to everyone and even recommended the QA role to several friends and family members. Never again. This company strung me along and hung me out to dry. Disappointed and disgusted is an understatement. Looking for a replacement job where I can put my Masters degree to good use and not be taken advantage of. Health insurance is terrible. Huge deductible (nearly $3k). Only two weeks vacation.

Pros

Had a few really exceptional coworkers

Cons

One reason I was hired was to bring in new ideas and work approaches; however, when I tried implementing anything new, some of the “old school higher-ups” would balk and were never open to anything new or better. My management just looked the other way and didn’t support me. As for training, I wasn’t offered much in the way of onboarding other than being told to read a lengthy “standard operating procedures” document. No real opportunities were offered to shadow anyone so I could learn in real-time. A typical work week was 60+ hours and often stretched to 70+. It was exhausting and demoralizing. The job was not sustainable and I’ve never been more relieved to be done with a place. I cannot recommend Maximus as a place to grow your skills or to give your time. Turnover seems to be relatively high at Maximus and there are far better places to work.
