Pros
Good product, and a chance to work with some very good, talented people. As a small car company, you can get exposure to different sides of the business. The employee car lease program is a good benefit, and other benefits are average. Annual Holiday shutdown (as with other car companies) is a nice benefit as well. If you're lucky enough to have a good manager, Mazda can be a good place to work.
Cons
Unfortunately, as much as they pretend to care about employees by doing internal employee motivation training (pride point), they really don't care (and most employees know this. There's absolutely no diversity, a bit frosty towards certain minorities. No loyalty, even towards dedicated employees. As others have mentioned, some senior mgmt use their teams ideas to get promoted, then throw that person under the bus. Some of the staff that comes over from Mazda Japan for 2~3 year assignments mistreat and are hostile towards domestic Mazda US employees. Things like power harassment and mistreating employees has been an issue in Japan for years, and some practice this same behavior when they're in the U.S. They also have a general negative view of Mazda US employees, as they blame any sales deficiencies in the U.S. market on US employees - Ironically, all strategy and decisions which affects sales in the U.S. are dictated by Mazda Japan.
