Thanks so much for taking the time to write a comment. Regarding the employee experience, I wanted to call out some of the changes we have made in 2018. First, we were able to reduce average medical premiums by 8.9%, which is a win for our employees in the current healthcare market. We also increased our 401(k) company match and will spend over $2 million this year matching money that our team members set aside for retirement. Additionally, as you may be aware, we recently launched a greatly enhanced employee assistance program (EAP). Given the stress and burnout in our industry, we provide a very generous program that is completely free to all of our employees, regardless of whether or not you sign up for MedVet benefits.
Also, I want to address some of the comments you made about the employee pet discount. MedVet offers an employee discount policy that is consistently higher than the industry standard. All employees are provided a copy of the policy when hired and given a detailed explanation. Our invoices are billed at the retail rate and then discounted in order to comply with all federal, state, and local IRS guidelines. The employee discount given is shown on each invoice in order to provide clarity and transparency. MedVet does not profit in any way from employee pets. We actually lose money treating employee pets but consider it a great investment in our team - our pets are our family members. Which doesn't seem scummy to me.
