Pros
Had some nice freedom at times, enjoyed many of the employees, the atmosphere could feel like family sometimes, the station manager was wonderful. Sometimes they had an ice cream truck show up on hot days in summer to show worker appreciation, as a wonderfully nice way of saying thank you. Gave me flexibility on my hours. Allowed people to move into other depts.
Cons
Departments were stingy about raises,(which left people feeling stuck and unappreciated) and then the station would buy lots of new stuff, even though they couldn't keep the things in place working properly or to just replace new things that they thought weren't good enough months later. Sometimes it felt like there would only be one person to fix a rather large problem. Also egos were seemingly an issue and sometimes stood in the way of progress. Not much vacation time, that's not unusual though.
