I was well paid on time and in full. That's about it.

From the very beginning, the whole deal smelled bad. I was contacted by a company representative on a Friday to start (as I was told) as a temp-to-perm (LOL!) consultant to a renowned orthopedic hospital the following Monday. No interview, no discussion with HR, no meeting with the recruiter, nothing. Just start on Monday. I had to very quickly jump through several hoops to start on Tuesday of the following week: a note from my PCP stating I was fit to work, and a urine test for drug use. All for a gig that I was told could very easily go permanent and actually lasted 6 weeks. I should have suspected something was fishy when I met the HR Director on the first day, and he wouldn't even say hello to me or shake my hand. I received minimal training from the employee I was allegedly replacing, and who had been a full-time permanent for seven years! I had a very short time frame to get up to speed on their database and training procedures. In fact, I called Medical Staffing Services and demanded to meet with them immediately to discuss the situation. I was put off for over two weeks before I was able to meet them for lunch near the hospital. I explained my reservations to both representatives of MSSI. They lied to me and told me that my best bet would be to work long hours and just "go with the flow." They didn't even have the decency to let me know they were considering other candidates for the position. After six weeks, I was replaced with an internal candidate who was probably half my age, had minimal experience in such a position, and was probably making half of what I was paid. I found out I had been let go AFTER I had gone home for the day by a phone call from the company president. To add insult to injury, I immediately went back to the hospital the next day to retrieve some personal belongings I had left there. I received a voicemail from the company president that my actions were "unprofessional." I explained to him in an email that HIS behavior was GROSSLY unprofessional, as well as being fraudulent. He had misrepresented the position to me just to get someone to fill the position, and didn't have the decency to just be honest and let me know that the position was temporary. Any recruiting agency that has to go to such lengths to fill a position is not one that anyone would want to work for or trust. If you are considering a temp position from Medical Staffing Services, be very wary and suspicious. If they fell you it's temp to perm, get it in writing. Question them about what criteria they would use to determine your candidacy for a full-time position. Otherwise you may be sorely disappointed.
