Pros

Part time workers were asked to work for 40 hours minimum a week. Fantastic for those who want more hours, terrible for those who signed up for a PART TIME JOB.

Cons

-Full time hours for part time workers. -Bipolar hours. I would find myself working from 3-11pm one day, and 9-5 the next day. Followed by 12-8, 2-10, and back to 3-11. -Employment at Meijer is for those who don't want to go ANYWHERE in life. I was forced to work with uneducated idiots who knew nothing besides their job. Social skills? Absent. Common courtesy? Absent. For a company who requires 3 interviews, Meijer sure hires some stupid, trashy people. -Training is absent. I was not trained whatsoever. I started out as a stocker and the lady that taught me what to do had been there for 4 months. She got irritated and reported me multiple times because I did not work fast enough, so I transferred over to Deli to settle the dispute. -Deli is even worse. The turnover rate is extreme and only 2 employees there were there for more than a year. The rest were as new as me. It took 4-5 weeks for me to actually learn how to do my job. I was never trained for the register, along with my coworkers. -Our manager was new. She had been there 4 weeks prior to my hiring. By the time I quit, she still did not understand how to be a manager. Issues were never addressed. Scheduling was A MESS. Rarely was she on the floor. Management also scheduled herself 3-4 days off per week. -Scheduling was terrible, terrible, terrible. Every friday, the schedule is posted. Revisions are made 2-6 times after it is posted. I found myself coming in late multiple times due to the fact that management changes the schedule WITHOUT NOTICE. Apparently, it is the job of the employee to check the weekly schedule multiple times a day, everyday. -How meijer handles threats. Meijer employs drug users. A deli worker threatened me multiple times for no reason, and then promptly apologized a few hours later. I reported a death threat to the lines leader (as management scheduled herself off that day) and he said he might talk to him. He never did. So much for open door policy. -Discipline towards employees. There is none. If you try to report, plan to get in trouble for acting like a "child". I could not find anything good about this job. To sum it up, scheduling is a mess. Employees are no good fools. Management are glorified no good fools. Upper management does not care. Training is absent. Hours are wack. I walked out of the job and never received a call asking if I would show up ever again. I have found new employment in a more professional environment that allows actual PART TIME hours. If you are considering Meijer as an employer, please consider this review. I read glassdoor reviews prior to me being hired and I thought "it cant be that bad, can it?". It certainly was.

Pros

Direct coworkers were great to work with. I also enjoyed being left to do my work and not babysat by management.

Cons

Management doesn't know what they are doing. Resets and floor plans were regularly not done properly. The store I worked at has a skeleton crew so I never got help (but was expected to stop everything I'm going to go help other departments/areas). Also meaning good luck to any customers needing help, especially when I was the only person working my area of the store, so when I wasn't there, no one was. Management also regularly disappeared into the offices or were on vacation. Also was terminated for reasons outside my control even though I was told they look at the reasons for attendance incidents before termination. Never got to get the FMLA or accommodation to my doctors before being terminated two days after I requested them. Didn't bother asking for a raise either. I did multiple times and got nothing.
