Mercieca presents the opportunity to work with some fantastic clients in a friendly, vibrant company. Unfortunately, the reality is an agency where bullying and bitchiness thrives. On-boarding was exceptionally poor. Across my two months at Mercieca, I was only given two formal check-ins with my line manager. What’s more, the individual assigned to this role was rude, hostile and irritable, which made it difficult to request help or ask questions. The workload presented by Mercieca was completely unsustainable and I worked most Sundays while I was there. Client over-servicing was high and the balance of time split between clients as presented on my portfolio spreadsheet was impossible to maintain in reality. I was let go from Mercieca in an unexpected ‘tap on the shoulder’ meeting that came completely without warning. Despite my clear professionalism and diligence, the director said, I was just ‘not the right fit’ for the company, leaving me suddenly unemployed with a week’s notice. An all-agency email following the news said I’d be given aftercare, but absolutely none came. Whilst I am still recovering from the ramifications of being out of work at such short notice, all I can do is urge anyone who is thinking of working here to explore other options.
