Management was hired for skill but they don't have any actual experience in managing people, which creates for poor culture and low morale. This is more true the higher up the chain of command you go. The departmental politics are insane and often prevent work from actually getting done. The department heads don't play very nice in the sandbox, and this trickles down through the ranks in each department. Too many bottlenecks and roadblocks to actually be productive, creating tons of "busy work". Also, pay, benefits, bonuses, etc seemed to decrease every year after the recession. While executive management was getting fatter, the employees were getting thinner. Very little opportunity for advancement.
