Pros

The only Pro is working in a relaxed environment surrounded by artwork.

Cons

It is impossible to make a living working here. Commission job but management staff also acts as a consultant taking away opportunities as they see fit. The environment is catty, gossipy, and management spends most of their time whispering and talking about co workers right in front of you which leaves you feeling as though the second you leave the room, you are the one being talked about. Comments about your food choice, hair style, clothing, weight are constant. One co worker was told, "I will get you a raise to not wear cheap clothes because they make you stink." This was in August on a 90+ degree day after we finished unloading a van full of artwork for the Manager who refused to help. Horrible.

Pros

The lowest staff. They are typically new to the industry and do not know that other places are like this.

Cons

Upper management are only concerned with themselves and them making money. The way they run the gallery does not follow industry norms. Additionally, your anxiety goes up because they yell at you and make things life or death. You can’t learn your job because upper management can’t explain or doesn’t know it. They allow visiting artists to be horrific to the staff. Does not value employees. Art Consultant’s contacts are stolen from them by the owners so they can take commissions themselves. Most back office jobs you can do from home but they refuse to allow that or work with you. While upper management does. They don’t care about you.
