The schedule is brutal! I ran OTR the year before and took this "local" job thinking I'd spend more time at home. Instead what I found was the dispatchers ( who are non-local at some central location in another state so you'll never see them in person ) do everything they can to max out your 14hr clock every single day! Subsequently by the time you do get home you'll be exhausted and only have enough time to get a few hours of sleep before turning around to go back to work! It's particularly bad if you work nights! Also, these people have an odd definition of "local". 200 - 250 mile outbound trips multiple times per week are the norm. After making your delivery you'll end up having to layover at a hotel and come back the next day. I honestly worked less hard and made similar money as an OTR tanker driver which is ultimately why I left this job for a different industry all-together.
