Pros

I cannot think of any pros to mention here, the pay is low, the training is non-existent and the supervisors are untrained.

Cons

Do not work for Metrc! The supervisors at Metrc are uneducated and untrained to be Leaders of People. They treat the Support Team like we are all back in middle school, complete with cliques, favoritism, backstabbing, ageism, retaliation, and most prevalent, bullying. It’s everything you thought you left behind when you graduated to high school, only worse because, in this situation, your tormentors are your teachers, so you have no recourse. Your training will consist of someone staring blankly into the Teams Meeting camera, repeating the phrases “I’ll check on that” and “I don’t know why that’s not working,” then laughing and joking about how junkie and stupid the program is. Metrc hired a new CEO, who the supervisors hate. He presents himself as a benevolent demigod, but his actions suggest otherwise. The first thing he did for the Support Team, Metrc's lowest paid group, was to take our one-hour paid lunches away from us and then make us work 30 extra minutes a day to make up for the pitiful lunch they don’t pay for now. I sent a personal email to this CEO pleading with him not to take our money for our lunches right before Christmas, but I was met with a wall of excuses. I was in one of the CEO’s “Ask Me Anything” meetings, where he spent about two minutes making fun of an employee’s ethnic name. I watched in horror in a company-wide meeting the CEO go up to an older heavy set employee and say they were not the image/type he personnally wanted for a position but because the liscensees loved the employee he had no choice. So, once again, we’re back to bullying. I guess that makes him the principal of the middle school full of tormentors. His personal mantra is “Be kind”. I guess that translates to, “Be kind to me while I slowly alleviate you of your dignity and income.” And I would be remiss in my duties if I failed to mention the fact that on a Support Team meeting call, a Metrc Human Resources member referred to us as “slaves in the fields of a plantation.” I heard that with my own ears! Metric did not so much as issue an apology for this horrible racist comment! It seems Metrc must be fostering an atmosphere of racism because one of the supervisors once said to me: "I hate those people because they use their color to do less work than the rest of us have to do." Fast forward, and Metrc has taken the “lunch money” they stole from the Support Team and purchased Salesforce. Anyone with Salesforce experience knows this was probably not a smart move for a small call center. It’s clunky and cumbersome and breaks down constantly. Well, of course, many of the Support Team’s stats started to fall because we couldn’t stay logged in to Salesforce long enough to take as many calls as usual. Instead of Metrc admitting that it’s more likely they bought a call management system that can bog down a gamer’s computer network, they decide to start issuing Verbal and Written Reprimands for our stats plummeting (through no fault of our own). That’s what brings me here today. We are a military family. My Husband is a Meteorologist for the United States Air Force. We were stationed in a remote part of the world so he could study Arctic weather. The Internet connection was more than enough to run the old call management system we had. But as soon as they implemented Salesforce, I could barely stay logged in for more than about 5 minutes at a time. I spoke to a supervisor and offered to move to town to get a better signal or Starlink satellite internet. They assured me that would not be necessary and told me they would let me work CATs offline if needed until we figured something out. I asked them repeatedly if this was going to affect my job negatively. I started asking whenever a supervisor would contact about the situation me if I was getting fired. I begged them to let me know if things changed because I would much rather retire than be terminated for something I had no control over. The supervisors said, “Oh, don’t be silly”. A higher level manager even called me personally and asked me not to quit during this timeframe. That, plus the Team’s Message Board for Salesforce, was full of thousands of the same complaints I had, so I just thought they knew everyone was having issues and that it would take a while to right the ship. I also leaned on the fact that I’ve been with Metrc for almost five years. I am one of the top Agents in Support who have written and worked over 10,000 tickets. My customer service is exemplary. I always pick up weekend overtime when Metrc is caught short with no one wanting to work. I have a great attendance record. I was the Team Lead for the CSV team. I was the Team Lead for the Cleanup Team. I was on the State Response Team. I was even the Team Lead for the other Team Leads. So, with the two Supervisor’s reassuring words and my excellent work record, I trusted them when they told me my job was not in jeopardy. The last words that the supervisors said to me were, “I love you.” A week later, after my husband purchased a booster for the internet service and my stats were improving because I could stay connected to Sales Force longer, I’m staring into the Teams camera at that supervisor who just promised everything was fine sitting there quietly as an HR Rep read off all the reasons I was getting fired with no notice or warning, which were all related to Salesforce. So, instead of getting to walk out with dignity as I had begged them to do, they made me crawl out on my belly, humiliated, two weeks before Christmas. Since they fired me without a written warning, I have found out other employees were graciously offered a written warning Metrc calls a PIP (Performance Improvement Plan) to give them a chance to improve. They NEVER provided this to me. Many past and present employees have also contacted me with horror stories that make mine sound like a fairy tale. I have encouraged them to come here and to other platforms to let their story be heard as a warning to others. A current employee told me that if a bad review is posted here, they force employees to post positive reviews to counteract the bad ones. Why Metrc is not already involved in a class action lawsuit for employee maltreatment will remain a mystery to me. I guess using threats, embarrassment, and intimidation still works today if you work for the wrong company. Dear Lord, my heart bleeds for the employees I was forced to leave behind! Where are social media, media, lawyers, and Anonymous when you need them? Someone, please reach out and help these poor souls who have the misfortune of working for Metrc and have been threatened into silence. They suffer quietly, feeling helpless and powerless. Alone, scared, and desperate. The worst part is there is definitely a pattern of age discrimination because the last several people terminated without notice or an opportunity to correct any issues, to include myself and two previous supervisors, are well beyond the age discrimination threshold. I have observed them systematically terminate or run off over 15 employees that are near or over the age of 50. Metrc used to pride itsself on Metrc being a Family. Well, I guess Greed got the better of it. It seems they have turned Metrc over to a bunch of corporate pirates who are slowly dissecting Metrc where it is unrecognizable just to put a few extra shekels in their pockets. I wonder if they can hear the cries of the “Family Members” at night, or does Greed cover their ears for them? The bottom line is that it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that Metrc seems to be moving toward not having remote workers. They may be using the Salesforce debacle as an excuse to fire or run off all the current remote workers to save money on severance packages and wages it seems like they are starting with the older, higher paid employees. If you’re looking for a remote, family-type job where you are valued, treated fairly, properly trained, and everything makes sense, keep scrolling!

Business outlook

Pros

Working remote and work life balance is pretty good. The managers are really good and do not micromanage. No real competitors and recession proof job

Cons

Reviews don't matter at all. You will get the same cost of living increase everyone else gets. They do not do raises even though the company is absolutely flush with cash. CEO used to be a CFO and he runs the company as you would expect a CFO to. New CTO wants people to "Run with knives" so we went from never having big bugs or hotfixes to pushing multiple hotfixes most days. They are also in the process of removing QAs for the most part and having engineers manual QA.
