Pros

- Modern FinTech mindset - Great tech stack - 16" M2 MacBook Pro supplied shortly after release for software engineers with equipment refresh every 3 years - Friendly people, usually always someone to support - Ability to affect change - Data-driven decision-making, with everyone able to contribute - Remote first, they ask that you come into the office once every couple of weeks. In reality, some people come in once a quarter, which IMO is very fair. - Overall, an appetite for growth and an exciting future

Cons

- Salary increases nowhere close to inflation. Far, far below the sub-inflation national wage-growth averages as published by the ONS. - Office hot-desking is not for all and facilities are not great (ie. poor quality 1080p monitors, cables to connect your MacBook to a monitor are not provided, functioning charging sockets not always available) - Summer hours removed (where you work longer hours Mon-Thu for an earlier finish on Friday). Flimsy, disingenuous reasons were given. I don't think they realised how much of a morale booster this was in terms of promoting a positive work/life balance. - Despite lots of talk about career progression, I still feel unclear on how promotions work. They feel a tad random. - D&I approach can often feel like more of an internal marketing exercise rather than affecting real change (the previous CEO, who was herself an inspiring woman, used to very openly discuss D&I backed by company data, nowadays it's hard to tell how we're actually doing)

Pros

The projects were reasonably well resourced

Cons

A high level of expertise is required from any new employee but no training or guidance is offered. Seemed like Management was just waiting for their employees to make a mistake so that they could criticise and demolish the person.

Pros

Everything takes ages because of heaps of process so it can be chill at times. Good holiday allowance. The staff on the ground are lovely (it’s the decision-makers who are awful). Semi-recently appointed CEO is nice but she seems to wield zero power.

Cons

Who is in charge: a load of immature men getting paid too much to make biased decisions which they are not informed to make. They don’t know what they’re doing. The company doesn’t care about its employees - there’s posturing around career growth, etc but it ultimately amounts to nothing. They are cynical and those in charge are highly self-interested. Everything is put back onto the employees - senior managers do nothing. There is no budget to do anything social. Company is also stingy with swag (as in there is none). No free snacks or even milk in the office. And staff are forced to go in even though the wifi barely works and it's a battle to get a desk or meeting room. A very bad office setup. Used to be cool but has lost the plot. All the best people are now gone.
