If you work hard you can have some decent job security. Great for exposure to the industry as a stepping stone. You earn the same wage every day so you don't have to work 40 hours in order to get your overtime. Many locations you are in a rental trailer, but that isn't always the case if you end up doing a Mom and Pop operation.
Cons
Things have continued to go downhill for MCWL. Wages have remained utterly stagnant since losing nearly 30% in the previous downturn. New work coming in is at best neutral to work being lost and negative as a whole compared to other mudlogging companies in the region. Employees are quitting in droves. Nepotism is rampant, and there are no opportunities for advancement unless you are married into the family or best friends with management. The best work (long wells with constant downtime) are given to family and friends while grueling paced work with difficult clients is given to everyone else. Equipment is often sent to the field untested and broken and the onus for driving around to swap it out is put on the mudlogger most of the time. You are generally responsible for hauling company equipment in your personal vehicle with no compensation; including pulling trailers.
