Pros

I met two of my closest friends from this job who were once my co workers ( we have all gotten way better jobs and are happy) securing the job during hard times working with marginalized communities

Cons

Being an administrative assistant for one of the properties was my first "adult" job after graduating college during the pandemic. Although I am grateful for securing the job during hard times and working with a marginalized community, the work environment was very abusive. My manager was always calling me out in an unprofessional manner (in front of my co workers, in front of tenants, and in front of the hire ups) to the poitn where not only my co-workers felt I was being bullied, but other people assisting from other properties. I started as an administrative assistant but was thrown into being a leasing agent with minimal training (without a pay raise) and was expected to maintain tasks for both admin and leasing agent. I was discouraged from asking questions and was sometimes forced to take my work home with me in the beginning. We were doing a lease up so there was very little support for me and co workers. I'd often have to handle conflict between tenants because my supervisors were often not willing to. Also we were not allowed to use the language line for our non english speaking residents and were told they needed to provide "their own translators" which made assisting them very difficult. I don't know the environment at other properties but I encourage you to speak up against workplace abuse and protect your peace should you choose to work here and have the same experience. In the end I met two of my closest friends from this job and I am now working at a place I love.
