FERS, TSP, paid vacation on base salary, good money due to overtime, fun work occasionally, travel and see most of the world for free, and service to the US as a federal civilian employee without so much of the stringent requirements that the regular US military has to adhire to.
Cons
Not enough hometime, horrible shoreside management, favoritism and politics on ships, racism, sexism, laziness, and corruption all throughout most of entire organization.
