Thank you for your comments, it's wonderful to hear you enjoyed the working environment and appreciate all the great work we do here at Minstead Trust. Some roles are better suited to flexible working than others and as we are supporting adults with a learning disability, working from home is not always an option. However, we will always try our hardest to accommodate flexible working requests and we have worked to create a range of work patterns and contract types to attract people who may not be able to commit to full time hours or whose role can be adapted to working from different locations.

Pros

Seeing the people we support grow and achieve skills to help live independently

Cons

Very little to No training given You have no support from management A 6 hour shift has the same 20 minute break as a 26+ hour shift If you have a waking night you still have to work the following day if you're scheduled to work Staff morale is rock bottom Management criticise, show no empathy and are unsympathetic for the pressures the last 18 months have brought for all in the care industry.

Thank you for your comments and I am sorry that your cons list outweighed the pros. Since your review, Minstead Trust has worked hard to build back after the effects of the pandemic, in a sector where testing and isolation measures extended well beyond those of the general population. We have developed a comprehensive training programme for all support staff which is a blend of on line courses and in person sessions. We know that certain subjects are better taught and absorbed in group settings and teams benefit from joint problem solving and sharing knowledge. We have also developed a Skills Matrix which helps our support team track their development above and beyond mandatory requirements and for which they can progress their career and be remunerated. We have developed new communications methods with the aim of keeping all staff and volunteers better informed on work place matters, including celebrating success. We have a number of Mental Health First Aiders, a confidential Employee Assistance Programme and access to short notice GP medical appointments to support positive mental health. We also publish a wellbeing newsletter. We have a specific section on supporting staff who have poor mental health in our absence management training. Our most recent employee survey told us that 94% of staff agreed that they enjoyed their job. We are always learning and have more to learn, so will continue in our efforts to make Minstead Trust a great place to work.
