Pros

*A pleasant, friendly environment *Lots of terrific people whom you’re pleased to have as your colleagues *The company values aren’t just talk, they actually live them and stick by them *Employee feedback (usually gripes and complaints) are actually listened to and generally action is taken to resolve these complaints *I enjoy the opportunities I have to work on so many interesting products and gain experience in amazing technology *I get to experience a genuine sense of pride in the work that I do and the products we produce *While sometimes lagging a bit, top management seems to be very forward thinking! They recognize the steps we need to take to continue our growth and adapt to ever-changing markets. *The founder, Bill Moog, was revolutionary in his vision for running a company and it was hugely successful. The present day Moog hasn’t strayed too far from his vision and values

Cons

*The only way to advance is to move out of your current role. I’m in the process of doing this for the 3rd time. It’s a shame because I’ve had to leave behind departments where (I hate to toot my own horn here) I’ve very much been a key player. I’ve taken legacy knowledge and experience with me, leaving a void that has been difficult (but not impossible) to fill. When my knowledge and level of responsibility is considerably higher than that of my peers, I expect to be compensated appropriately. That has not been my experience at all. My continuous efforts to take on responsibility outside of my immediate job duties have not been rewarded in any way. The only way to attain a position commensurate with my abilities has to been to “bid out” to another division/department. Fortunately, there are opportunities within Moog to do this. But the company would be much better served by properly recognizing and rewarding their key players, thereby retaining them within their roles. *Our IT infrastructure is abysmal. There seems to have been an awakening within the past few years to the fact that investment in IT resources is crucial to our operations. But it’s still too little, too late. The easiest, cheapest and most short-sighted response to aging IT resources is to do nothing. And nothing is exactly what Moog does until the situation becomes critical. Then it’s a panic response and a half-assed solution. The situation is noticeably improving but we’re still lagging way behind. It’s frustrating to have to deal with extremely outdated resources in order to perform your basic job functions.

Pros

The company has a bit of a startup-like vibe, and still feels established. They’re pretty open to letting younger engineers take on real responsibility , which makes it a good place to grow. From what I’ve seen in all-hands meetings, the senior leadership also seems to genuinely care about employees—you can kind of tell they’re paying attention and trying to take care of the team.

Cons

There’s nothing perfect, enjoy the time when you get in.

Pros

You are surrounded by excellent colleagues across all departments, with the exception of Government Property.

Cons

The Government Property team suffers from severe leadership deficiencies and a toxic work culture. The Senior Manager has a well-documented history of high turnover, carrying a reputation from her previous role where team members actively sought transfers. Under this leadership, promotions are actively discouraged through targeted hostility and fabricated performance issues. Because the management team lacks foundational people skills and prior leadership experience, employee retention is critically low. While other departments within the organization offer great opportunities for growth, transferring into or staying within Government Property is highly discouraged.
