Pros

Independent firm with one main office and a convenient, well-designed facility. The office culture is generally lively, with many talented professionals who genuinely want to help one another. Billable hour requirements are reasonable compared to most public accounting firms. Processes and workpapers are relatively well organized and supported by technology. Toxic behavior is often coached out once partners become aware of it, and overtly toxic individuals do not last long, at least in Tax department. Because performance evaluations are not fully data-driven, there is some flexibility and room for grace. Many people at various levels truly care about the culture and each other. The issues discussed below are localized and fixable, mostly stemming from blindness rather than malice. There has been some cultural damage caused by a few individuals, but overall, the environment is not cutthroat. There is a real, ongoing effort to make the firm better, and I am genuinely rooting for that success.

Cons

Passive, out-of-touch leaders have allowed certain toxic behaviors to flourish, especially gatekeeping, narrative control, and selective recognition. In some pockets of the firm, perception management outweighs merit, and those who master optics gain disproportionate influence. Decisions often rely more on subjective impressions than on measurable results, leading to poor workload balance, ineffective training, and uneven recognition. A few people’s biases have caused significant cultural damage that still has not been fully repaired. There is also a noticeable and open bias toward extroversion and so-called “good cultural fits,” which inadvertently disadvantages quieter contributors and minorities. If you are considering joining Moore Colson, look past the polished smiles and be discerning about whom you trust. The warnings from others are valid. Be mindful about what you share and with whom, as the wrong people can use it against you. Still, there are plenty of trustworthy, supportive colleagues who will invest in you if you show integrity and commitment. Find your people and do not be afraid to speak up directly to partners when necessary.

Pros

You learn about the accounting industry and software. They have food sometimes in the office and take you to eat every month or so. Thats about it.

Cons

- Extremely aggressive, I alone was almost physically attacked by one of their senior accountants for no reason as I followed the company training. - Full-time accountants there yell and scream at you until you cry at times - Extremely rude and many unprofessional - They lie about working hours, especially for the spring internship, where they never told us until we got the job that we'd be made to work 60+ hours minimum a week or threatened to be fired, even though that was never agreed upon, only 40 - 55 max. - They don't spread out different accounting filings evenly to interns and then when they never gave you a filing then they make sure to yell at you and act like you are dumb even though you were never given that they of filing while others were at the start. - If some of the staff don't like you, then they'll make sure that you are treated badly, spread rumors across the office, and even try to make you do illegal things (one accountant tried to make me drink alcohol even though I was underage and didn't want to ever drink alcohol), they'll yell and scream at you. - No work-life balance - Staff and management don't even care about you, even if you were just in a near-death accident, like I was. - Ultimately happy to have left that environment
