Pros

I've worked on & off at Moving Colour since 2012 (one of the first places to give me a chance as a freshly graduated animator) as a freelancer on short and long-term gigs, doing everything from stop-motion to 2D animation to editing, animatics, design, etc. The studio always has a very diverse collection of artists working in it, so you're always meeting other creatives from all walks of life and experience levels, several of whom I'm still friends and/or see back in the studio, even years later. The environment in the studio is very chill & everyone is accessible all the time, including Brian - it's a giant open loft, so you get to know everyone pretty quick (and there's nowhere to hide anyway) - so it makes even the newest team members one of the gang right away. Lastly, there aren't the endless days and weekends of work that some places require; your time has value as a freelancer and you work a normal day unless those occasional (very rare) tighter deadlines that occur. Work and life - what a concept! Highly recommended if you get the chance to work here.

Cons

I must enter at least 5 words for cons, but I have none.

Pros

I have worked at a range of design and animation studios, agencies, and corporate companies and Moving Colour is by far the most special place I have worked. The creative energy in this place is amazing and quite rare. I haven't worked with a single person in this studio who wasn't immensely passionate about art and their craft. The studio head, Brian, does a great job of creating an atmosphere where the art and artist can thrive and create the best work possible.

Cons

This studio is best suited for the freelancer who wants to make great work with other talented artists.

Pros

I've worked on multiple projects over the years for Moving Colour. I've always had a great experience working with Brian. He's a smart, creative, fair leader. He's a pleasure to work with, treats people well, and I find him a strong animation director. He let's design and creative drive the company rather than the bottom line. I'd work with Moving Colour again in an instant.

Cons

This is a small company and you'll be working with a tight-knit team. That may not be for everyone but is not a con. I've also worked in the arts district downtown for years and find it a unique & vibrant part of LA. Perhaps no area has changed more in the last 5-10 years including increased safety. Also not a con in my experience but not for everyone.
