Cons
Working for NAVFAC is a prison at least in my case. I work for a very disgruntled supervisor whose hellbound on making all her subordinates miserable. Your experience will depend a lot on your supervisor. I work for the micromanaging queen of the universe (literally have to text her to use the bathroom). I genuinely detest working here and see very little opportunity for growth. NAVFAC does not appreciate engineers. You will find many PEs was a GS-12 and scientists and less rigorous fields with no license as a GS-13. NAVFAC is the king of bureaucracy and nepotism. All of management have known each other for quite a while (it’s a small community) and if you’re not in their click, good luck getting anywhere. Morale is generally low and there is little to no team building. I was happy as a contractor before I left to be a federal employee for job stability. Now I’m always dealing with unnecessary stress and anxiety over some of the most menial tedious work imaginable. The impartial treatment here is unbearable. All the promotions and bonuses aren’t based on good merit or hard work. They are based on personal relationships. Management is completely inept and disillusioned to the unfair treatment. It’s a very oppressive and miserable place to work. I would not recommend to my worst enemy.
