Pros

If you have a good manager, you are off to a good start. Even then however, you can be sacked without warning.

Cons

Nationwide likes to think that it is a "progressive" employer. They are not. They use words like "Diversity" and "Inclusion" and those mottos may function for minorities but they have bigger problems than that. The company is regrettably rife with cliques, scapegoating, group-think and an ugly undercurrent of "us vs them." Their yearly budgeting and planning is so slipshod so as to be a roll of the dice. Because of this, they have to rely to a large degree on a huge contingent of contractors who end up being as disposable to management as paper cups. Office politics can get very ugly indeed and the younger FTEs play it as viciously as the older ones who often are disrespectful to contractors and play the badmouthing game - seemingly as a recreation. An acknowledged joke in my group was the fact that I was the 4th or 5th in an ever-changing succession of contractors. I have since had offers to interview there and will never, ever go back. Scary place.

Pros

Culture is great, it feels like working with family. I have a good work life balance.

Cons

The pay could be a lot better as the world gets more expensive our pay should reflect that.
