Pros

I had a 10-week summer internship at the Navy Exchange as a marketing intern. This internship was very informative and organized! Everyone was set up with their own mentor from a department they were placed in by interest or based on their skills/degree. I was placed in the apparel (softlines) division. Your mentor gives you a capstone to work on while doing daily tasks and weekly projects. I enjoyed attending buyer meetings, going comp shopping, etc. HR is also a great resource, and they make sure to schedule meetings throughout the week to help you develop your resume, LinkedIn, and overall professional skills. Good pay, everyone's friendly.

Cons

I was lucky to have been placed on the apparel team (which is what aligned with my major), but you don't always get a choice. They are flexible, though, and I'm sure if you spoke with a manager/ mentor, they could work something out that you could benefit from and enjoy.

Pros

Not sure there are any anymore

Cons

Pay is half of what it would be in the private sector. Management will move you into a different role without your consent. They used to offer flexible telework but removed the benefit. Now teams are trying to get by while half their positions sit empty since we can’t seem to hire…because no one wants to work here
